TRIBUTE TO MARTHA MACK

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Martha Mack on 10 January 2025. She was a remarkable woman who touched countless lives with her kindness and dedication. As a highly respected psychologist, she profoundly impacted children, parents, and families, offering unwavering support and care.

Martha was captivated by the potential of neuroscience to transform lives. On discovering Neurofeedback and Auditory Training, she embraced these technologies as a foundation of her work. In 2000, she founded the Listen And Learn Centre for brain-based interventions, leading it for 18 years. She developed innovative dichotic auditory training techniques, including the “Mack-Box” Dichotic Auditory Training equipment. Since 2012, she trained others in these methods, continuing her mission to create life-changing improvements to the brain.

Martha has been the corner stone of the Better MultiSensory Learning Centre Martha specialising in the assessment and support of children and adolescents with developmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum, ADHD, Developmental Delays, Dyslexia and other developmental concerns. Martha also worked with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, executive function difficulties, ADHD and learning issues.

Martha  served as president of ANSA – the Applied Neuroscience Society of Australasia – from 2019 to 2021, and of BCIA-A – the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance, Australian Chapter – from 2017 to 2019.

In 2016, she was a founding member of AADPA – the Australian ADHD Professionals Association – contributing significantly to the development of the Australian National Guidelines for evidence-based practices for ADHD and related disorders, released in 2022.

Martha was a Board-Approved Supervisor in Psychology and was recognised as an Honorary Fellow of the University of Melbourne Graduate School of Education for her work in supporting students in the field of Educational and Developmental Psychology.

Martha approached every endeavour with unparalleled passion and determination, earning her the affectionate title of “a beacon of inspiration.”

Her zest for life and adventure was boundless. Her love for the sea was unparalleled, and her joy for boating was an integral part of her adventurous spirit. Whether enjoying leisurely afternoons on the water or embarking on extended sailing journeys, Martha found peace and happiness surrounded by the ocean’s endless beauty. Martha also had an incredible gift for photography, capturing breathtaking images of coastlines, sunsets, and marine life during our travels. These photos, which fill her home, stand as a testament to her artistic eye and deep love for the natural world.

In recent years, Martha continued to embrace new experiences with the same enthusiasm that defined her life. Her strength, love, and generosity were a constant source of inspiration, not only to me but to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Martha brought light and joy wherever she went, and her absence leaves a void that words cannot convey.

Remembering her incredible life and the joy she brought to so many will help us celebrate the legacy she leaves behind.

With heartfelt gratitude,

The team at Better MultiSensory Learning Centre.
