The diagnostic assessment should be conducted by an experienced child Psychologist (Educational and Developmental) with training in assessing dyslexia and learning difficulties.

At Better MultiSensory Learning Centre these assessments are conducted by Martha Mack. What is the process of a Learning Difficulties Assessment

The process commences in an interview with parents and carers. The interview inquires into the child’s developmental history, family history, teachers’ and parents’ observations, and previous evaluations, if any, by other health professionals including Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and Paediatricians.

All the assessment process steps are described on our learning difficulties assessment process page which is linked here.

Report with Intervention Recommendations to assist your Child

The evaluation and written report will provide assessment outcomes and intervention recommendations that address the specific difficulties experienced by the student, including school accommodations, assistive technology, and other suggestions to help the student in the classroom.

Why is an Diagnostic Assessment of Learning Difficulties important?

A diagnostic assessment is vital to provide an understanding as to why a student is having difficulties with the fundamental building blocks of reading, spelling, and writing. By providing a profile of areas of strengths and weaknesses, parents, teachers and schools are empowered to assist the student and create a plan of action that addresses the specific learning difficulties.
